HOURS: Up to 10 hours per week

 

Description:

Circulation Assistants play the role of the public ‘front-end’ for the daily operations of the Learning Commons and provide a full range of services to the Life West community.  The Circulation Desk is staffed during all open hours.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide professional customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Answer basic informational, directional and technical questions.
Check-in and check-out of books, anatomical models, media, and equipment by following circulation procedures.
Add and edit borrower information in the circulation database.
Assist with opening and closing procedures when scheduled.
Shelve items accurately in their proper location.
Routine technical support for workstations, printers, scanners, etc.
Clean and maintain an organized area – pick up stray items, clean tables, carrels, etc.
Ability to work with confidential material and maintain confidentiality.
Work on special projects with other library staff.
Refer more complex issues to the Library Director.

Must qualify for a federal work-study award

Attention to detail.
Ability to work as a positive and productive member of a team.
Ability to learn quickly and perform tasks independently.
